Good afternoon to you, On Saturday 11th April 2015 I had the unexpected privilege of playing for the funeral of an old family friend. The Organ is regularly maintained, but no longer played, as the church does not have an organist. The organ appears to be in very origenal condition, except perhaps the addition of an electric wind pump. ( I do not think the town had electricity at the time of installation). I was amazed by the warmth and richness of the tone. Unfortunately, with only five minutes before the service, I was not able to take the organ for a real "test drive". However it was a real privilege to play. I took the opportunity during the lengthy sermon to take a few pictures, and later two of the whole instrument, which I will attempt to forward to you. The Organ is in deep rural South Africa, about eight hundred kilometres north east of Cape Town. Regards Dieter Kreft |
